Sunrise Elopement for Ashley + Jayy got engaged in Iceland + took their engagement photos in Banff, so it really comes as no surprise that they would have their elopement somewhere else adventurous. Today, we’re heading to Patagonia, Chile for an adventure of a lifetime!
Photographer Anni Graham shares: Patagonia has to be one of the most breathtaking and adventurous places you could elope. Driving into the mountains with guanacos, ostriches, and flamingos, towering peaks and pearl blue glacier lakes, there really isn’t anything like it. We hiked in at sunrise for their elopement and they said their vows quietly to each other on the calmest morning I’ve never seen in Patagonia. It’s as if the whole place just stopped breathing for a second to witness this incredible moment. It was incredible.
Let’s head out to Patagonia!
Aren’t these vow books the sweetest little momento?
How incredible are the sleeves on her Rue De Seine dress?
What a dreamy location for a first look!!
Digging Ashley’s crown? It’s by Amaroq!
We woke up at 4 in the morning to catch the sunrise but unfortunately didn’t see any mountains at sunrise due to clouds so we waited it out a bit. At around 10 am the clouds cleared, a rainbow appeared over the mountains, and the winds completely stopped (if you have ever been to Patagonia, this is VERY rare). At that moment, as we exchanged our vows, it was as if the entire universe stopped to listen to us promise forever. Without a doubt, that moment is our favorite.
Ashley shares: We are true lovers of national parks and it only felt right to get married in a national park, let alone PATAGONIA—the mecca for hikers and backpackers. We also always knew we wanted the moment to be very intimate and truly coming from the heart. We wanted our vow exchange to be intentional and felt that the only way to do that was to keep the moment between the two of us.
All the emotion!!
I couldn’t have imagined a better dress for me if I could. I knew I wanted sleeves and a low back and low and behold Rue designed a dress perfect for me. The first time I tried it on, I actually didn’t buy it because I was so afraid of how perfect it was for me.
A week went by and I tried it on for the second time and instantly broke down in tears because I clearly envisioned marrying my best friend in this dress. That’s how I knew I found MY dress.
The Adventure of a Lifetime
How gorgeous are those turquoise waters?
Step 1: Choose a location that truly resonates with both of you.
Step 2: Get an awesome photographer.
Step 3: DO IT! It is by far the best decision we could have ever made. And if things don’t go the way you planned it, that’s okay! Enjoy every moment, even the unplanned Sunrise Elopement, because it’ll be one of the best memories of your lives.
Definitely worth getting up at sunrise for!
So, is Patagonia now on your list of places to visit? And perhaps maybe on your list of dream places to elope at?
